Gloucester’s Wagner earns All-State status in high jump

The Gloucester High School track and field teams closed the 2013 season with senior Evan Wagner’s participation in the Group AAA State Championships held June 1 at Todd Stadium. Wagner was ranked 21st among 27 high jumpers coming into the state event and cleared 5’2" to finish in eighth place and earn All-State status.

Members of the GHS girls’ track team who earned All Peninsula District recognition were third-team selections Natalie Bueker with 16’3.5" in the long jump and Khadijah Payne with 31’7.5" in the shot put and 80’07" in the discus.

Second-team selections were freshman Jasmin Scott with 5:50.12 in the mile, Mia Robinson with 6’06" in the pole vault and Wagner with 4’11" in the high jump. Junior Wendy Sparrer was a first team selection with 8’6" in the pole vault. Bryanna Carter, Shawnique Thornton, Malia Ward and Jada Wilson also represented GHS in the Peninsula District Meet, where the Gloucester girls placed fifth...
