Gloucester’s Teachers of the Year honored

The Gloucester County Public Schools Educational Foundation honored the Gloucester County Public Schools Teachers of the Year with an awards dinner last Thursday at the T.C. Walker Education Center. 

The elementary teachers honored were Jessica Brown, Achilles; Rose Spangler, Botetourt; Preston Higgins, Petsworth; Lanita Knight, Bethel; and Jennifer Rollings, Abingdon. 

Middle school teachers honored were Judith Gwartney-Green of Page and Karen Croxton of Peasley and Gloucester High School honored teachers Starlina Kladler and Timothy Winchester. Each received a monetary gift, a plaque and a pin.

Higgins was recognized as the elementary school teacher of the year, Gwartney-Green as the middle school teacher of the year and Winchester as the high school teacher of the year. Each of these teachers additionally received a teacher of the year ring donated by Jostens, Inc.

Gwartney-Green was also selected as the GCPS Teacher of the Year and received a special plaque. She is no...
