Gloucester’s information technology director Scott Varner has left the county to take a similar position in Frederick County, beginning Monday.

Varner has accepted the top technology post in the same locality where Gloucester’s former county administrator Brenda Garton took a position about a year ago. “I am delighted that Scott has agreed to join our Frederick County team as our director of information technology,” Garton said. “Since I have worked with him before, I know that he is a team player and will do whatever it takes to make sure that our technologies are working as designed in order to bring efficient service delivery to the citizens of Frederick County.”

Varner served as Gloucester’s IT director since 2012 and prior to being promoted to that role, served as Gloucester’s application integration coordinator for over a decade.
