Gloucester County’s Emergency Management Department and its partners will hold a Hurricane Preparedness Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Gloucester Home Depot, 6921 Walton Lane.
The expo is being held to coincide with Virginia’s Sales Tax Holiday, where patrons can purchase hurricane and emergency preparedness items without paying sales tax.
The state sales tax holiday starts at 12:01 a.m. Friday and ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. In addition to hurricane and emergency preparedness items, the holiday also applies to qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear and Energy Star and WaterSense products.
Saturday’s expo will provide a wealth of information from the county regarding what one should do to prepare for a storm and will also offer plenty of refreshments and activities for children.
