Gloucester youth compete in USATF Championships

The Gloucester Youth Track, Field and Cross Country Club opened the summer season at the Virginia USATF Championships at Virginia State University last weekend. 

The top 12 finishers in each age group qualified for their respective events at the USATF Regional Meet to be held July 6-8 at Hampton University. The club members placed in their events as follows at the state meet. 

Hunter Young, sixth place with a time of 3:57.04 in the age eight and under boys’ 800 meter;

Emily Baker, fifth place with a time of 6:36.25 in the 9-10 girls’ 1500 meter;

Brayl’n Johnson, 12th place with 8’ 6.75” in the 9-10 boys’ long jump; 

Joshua Angles, 10th place with a time of 3:25.41 and Tyson Ferrie, 12th place with 3:56.40 in the 9-10 boys’ 800 meter;

Xavier Johnson, 15th place with 11’ 2.75” in the 11-12 boys’ long jump; 

Mya Baker, second place with 5:41.70 in 13-14 girls’ 1500 meter;
