Gloucester Youth Baseball wins field makeover

Gloucester Youth Baseball will have renovated fields come mid-April, thanks to a number of residents and visitors who cast their vote for the longtime organization on social media.

The contest was sponsored by the Norfolk Tides Baseball Club, where people could vote for eight local youth fields ranging from Norfolk to Smithfield to the Eastern Shore by “liking” the field of their choice on Facebook.

According to Ian Locke, director of media relations for the NTBC, nearly 10,000 votes were cast, and GYB received 4,700 of those votes. Their field makeover, he said, will include an upgrade to the playing surface and improvements to existing dugouts by Norfolk Tides groundskeepers and front office staff.
