About 300 people have already signed up to join the new Gloucester Family YMCA, which is scheduled to open its doors tomorrow to its members and the community.
A ribbon cutting ceremony to signify the grand opening of the facility is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the doors of its 9,500-square-foot space inside Main Street Center.
Sheila Pillath, who will serve as executive director of both the Gloucester and Mathews YMCA branches, said all of the exercise equipment was being hauled into the facility on Monday and painters were doing a few touch-ups getting things ready for Friday’s opening.
“Everything’s on schedule,” Pillath said. On Tuesday, crews were expected to finish assembling all of the other furniture inside the space.
Following Friday’s ribbon cutting, she said tours of the new facility will be available for current and prospective YMCA members until 8 p.m.
