Gloucester Wetlands Board approves shoreline improvement projects

The Gloucester County Wetlands Board approved several shoreline improvement projects at its Sept. 14 meeting, which was held in the Courthouse Office Building.

The first request heard by the board was from Phillip Burress of Bonniville Road, who requested authorization to construct two 40 by 17-foot riprap breakwaters and place 300 cubic yards of sand landward of said breakwaters as beach nourishment. The requested was approved with six in favor and one recusal from board member Chip Neikirk, as he was the agent for the application.

Gregory and Raelisa Reid of Laurens Road sought authorization to install 150 feet of non-commercial vinyl sheet pile bulkhead withing two feet of an existing failing bulkhead and associated back fill. They also sought permission to install three 48-foot stone groins and one 40-foot stone T-head with associated beach nourishment. The requests were approved unanimously.
