Gloucester track athletes compete in Captains Classic

Gloucester High School track athletes competed in the 30th annual Captains Classic at Christopher Newport University on Friday and Saturday.

Representing GHS, Lauren Hill, Jasmin Scott, Rachel Ferriera and Mia Robinson placed fourth in the 3200-meter relay. Scott was second in the 400-meter dash, Robinson was third in the pole vault and Hill was fifth in the 800-meter race.

For the boys, Justin Garcia, Derek Drummond, Ryan Petty and David Sadikov were fifth in the 3200 relay and Jordan Haas was fourth in the discus.

GHS hosted all 10 teams from the former Peninsula District on April 1 for the first meet on the newly refurbished track. The Gloucester girls placed fifth overall and the boys were fifth.

For the girls, Malia Ward, Hill, Scott and Robinson won the 1600-meter relay and Alissa Adickes, Scott, Hill and Robinson were third in the 3200 relay. Megan McGee was fifth in the 1600, Hill was third in the in the 800, Ward was second in the triple jump and Robinson won the pole vaul...
