Gloucester to unveil proposed budget next week

County Administrator Brenda Garton will present her proposed fiscal year 2013 budget next week to the Gloucester Board of Supervisors. Wednesday night’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 o’clock in the colonial courthouse.

The supervisors’ meeting was rescheduled from its usual Tuesday night spot because of the Republican presidential primary. Registrar Bobbi Morgan said the colonial courthouse is used during each election as the county’s central absentee precinct.

Though Garton could not provide any specific details about the proposed budget prior to Wednesday night’s meeting, she did say earlier this year that she was prepared to make difficult decisions when preparing the FY 2013 budget.

At that time, she anticipated the budget would be presented with significantly less money from the state and no local revenue growth.
