The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a conditional use permit for Stephenson’s Child Care & Development, Inc., to reopen and resume its operations in Hayes during Tuesday night’s meeting held in the colonial courthouse. The facility is located in the single-family (SF-1) zoning district and operated for several decades as a child care center. After closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Stephenson’s Child Care lost its grandfathered status to operate in SF-1 since it existed before the county had an established zoning ordinance. This has required Stephenson’s to obtain a CUP from the county to reopen.
