Gloucester supervisors to take another look at school funding issue

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will host a discussion and possibly make a decision Tuesday night on whether to continue to fund the county’s school board budget by category or revert to lump sum funding. The meeting will begin at 7 o’clock in the colonial courthouse.

The school funding method proved to be a contentious topic during several meetings of the former board of supervisors. A majority of that board voted to change how the school board was funded—from giving the school system a lump sum each year and allowing it to decide where that money would be spent to providing specific amounts for each of a number of categories, such as instruction, transportation and administration.
