Gloucester sisters open Point Thrift Store

The Point Thrift Store opened for business May 7 at the Gloucester Point Shopping Center.

This is the first time sisters Joie and June Saba have owned a business. Both reside at Gloucester Court House. They operate the store full-time, with several other family members and friends occasionally helping out. Joie said they sell an assortment of used items, as well as some new items like toys and accessories still in the original boxes.

The large showroom, which previously housed a product rental business, is filled with clothing. Joie said there are bargains for men, women and children, including dresses, pants, shoes and similar items. Other areas of the shop feature for sale books, luggage, sporting goods, coffee pots, glassware, baby strollers, couches, chairs, lamps—well, you get the idea. Jewelry is a popular item, Joie said.

The Point store does not accept consignment nor does it accept the donation of items, Joie said. The sisters plan to hold a grand opening celebration ...
