Gloucester schools hold Math Bowl at Peasley

Gloucester Public Schools students in grades three through five competed in basic facts, logic problems, and structural design in a Math Bowl held March 27 at Peasley Middle School. 

Each elementary school brought two teams from each grade level, along with alternates. A total of 101 students registered for the event and were facilitated by 35 volunteer teachers. Melanie Jenkins, the division’s elementary math specialist, coordinated the event. 

The first-place team at each grade level received the top trophies in the competition. Petsworth took the third- and fifth-grade trophies while Botetourt captured the fourth-grade trophy.

Among third graders, the Petsworth team of Arenessa Gray, Nickolas Davis and Rebekah Schrader placed first.
