Gloucester schools consider 4-day school week

Gloucester County Public Schools plans to survey parents regarding their interest in having students return to school for four days each week.

Currently, students who attend school are divided into two groups. Group A students attend school Monday and Tuesday and Group B attends on Thursday and Friday. Each school is deep cleaned on Wednesday while students learn remotely. Parents also have the option of their students staying in a remote learning setting five days each week.

The survey will determine if parents want their children to attend school four days each week, with Wednesdays still reserved for deep cleaning. If the four-day week is chosen, pre-kindergarten through first grade students and all Gloucester High School students would begin the new schedules on March 18.

Second through fifth grade students and middle school students would begin the new four-day schedule on April 19, which is the first day of the fourth quarter.
