Gloucester schools announce planned response to COVID-19

In a message to Gloucester County Public Schools’ families sent out Friday afternoon, superintendent Dr. Walter R. Clemons has laid out the division’s planned response to the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Effective immediately, all activities and events (including athletic events) which occur outside of our normal instructional hours are suspended indefinitely.

Also, all field trips, out-of-state travel and professional
development travel outside of Gloucester are suspended indefinitely. All county
schools will be closed to the public after normal instructional hours.

The T.C. Walker Education Center will be closed to the
public daily after 4:30 p.m. Visitors to school buildings will be restricted to
students, staff and families (parents, guardians).

Schools will continue to operate under normal instructional
hours, as follows: middle schools from 7:40 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.; Gloucester High
School from 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., and elementary schools, 9 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
