The Gloucester County School Board appointed Cora Merkel of Hayes as a special education teacher and Patricia Burchill of Locust Hill as a reading specialist during its June 10 meeting. The appointments are effective Aug. 14.
The board also approved retirement for GHS choral director Greta Melson and GHS special education teacher Holly Zuger.
In addition, the board accepted resignations from GHS teachers Richard Hanley, Deborah Riley and David Stephenson. Stephenson was appointed as the GHS choral director last month but has since resigned.
Resignations were also accepted from speech pathologist Andrea Casanova, interventionist Andrea McDonald and Achilles Elementary preschool teacher Colleen Howard. ...
