Gloucester School Board to meet Wednesday

The Gloucester County School Board will hold a work session at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27 in the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium.

Items on the agenda for board discussion are the practical and operational implications regarding the Grimm v. Gloucester County School Board decision of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit that was issued on Aug. 26, 2020 and the U.S. Supreme Court’s denial of the school board’s writ of certiorari on July 28, 2021.

Also to be discussed are the practical and operation implications regarding the Code of Virginia Section 22.1-23.3 and the board’s recent adoption of revised non-discrimination policies.

Masking and physical distancing will be required for all in attendance. Citizens who refused to comply will be asked to leave. The maximum in-person audience capacity is 75 due to physical distancing.

Public comments will not be heard at this work session. Citizens may provide questions or comments after the work session by calling 804-693-5842 beginning at 8 a.m. Oct. 28 and leaving a message. Questions or comments may also be submitted to SchoolBoard@gc.k12.va.us.
