Gloucester School board honors Dr. Clemons as he steps into retirement

The Gloucester School Board met Tuesday night in the T.C. Walker Education Center to cover a range of topics, including several items which honored Superintendent of Schools Dr. Walter Clemons at his last school board meeting. He is set to retire June 30.

Gloucester Educational Foundation members Mike Jenkins and Anita Parker presented Clemons and Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Dr. Chuck Wagner with tokens of appreciation from the foundation for their many years of work in the schools. Wagner is scheduled to leave the division June 30 as well and take on the role of superintendent at King William County Public Schools.

School board chair Troy Andersen presented plaques to Clemons and Wagner for their contributions to the division and the community.

The board also voted unanimously to adopt a resolution of appreciation for Clemons and to rename “C” hall at Gloucester High School as “Dr. C” hall with a formal dedication taking place once current renovations are complet...
