Gloucester School Board begins budget considerations

The Gloucester County School Board began discussing its FY27 budget during a work session held last Thursday evening in the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium. “Gloucester County Public Schools delivers for the money we’re given,” said superintendent of schools Dr. Anthony Vladu during his presentation. He presented data that shows GCPS ranked #15 in the state and #3 in regions two and three. “When parents send their kids to school in Gloucester, they could be assured that it’s a top-notch, quality educational system that spends its money efficiently and spends it well,” continued Vladu. According to Vladu, 85.8 percent of the budget is focused on employee compensation and benefits, while 14.2 percent is dedicated to non-personnel expenditures. “Our biggest investment is in people,” said Vladu. “High-quality people that deliver high-quality instructional services and results.” He brought up the Local Composite Index trend with the board and discussed how it would impact the budget...
