The Gloucester School Board made five personnel appointments for the 2021-2022 school year during its May 27 work session at the T.C. Walker Education Center.
The board appointed Daryl Oakley of Shacklefords, as the new assistant principal at Abingdon Elementary School, effective July 1. Also, Alex Witowski of Mathews, was appointed as a technology teacher at Page Middle School and Erica Banuski of Yorktown, was appointed as a sixth grade science teacher at Page, both effective Aug. 16.
In addition, Nancy Kast of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was appointed as an eighth grade mathematics teacher at Peasley Middle School. Also, Teresa Bailey of Gloucester, was appointed to a support services position, effective July 1.
In transfers, Gloucester High School Principal Craig Reed was transferred to the principal’s position at Peasley Middle School, effective July 1.
Also, Peasley special education teacher Jennifer Stutz was transferred to teach special education at Page, and Abingdon second grade teacher Stacey Marsh was transferred to teach second grade at Botetourt Elementary, both effective Aug. 19.
In addition, Abingdon fifth grade teacher Nicole Lantz was transferred to an instructional technology resource teacher position with her location to be determined, effective Aug. 19.
The board also accepted resignations from Achilles Elementary fifth grade teacher Matthew Payne, effective June 17, and support services employee Holli Gipple, effective May 15.
Retirement was approved for Peasley special education teacher Barbara Collins, Page technology education teacher Rosser “Rusty” West, and Bethel Elementary school nurse Debra Wood, all effective July 1.
