Gloucester runners compete in D.C. invitational

Gloucester High School cross country runners traveled to Washington, D.C., for the second annual Pacers Running DCXC Invitational on Saturday in Kenilworth Park. The meet attracted 77 schools and 3,000 runners from as far away as Canada and Kentucky.

The most impressive race of the day for Gloucester was the freshman/sophomore race where the GHS girls took six of the top 14 places out of a field of 128 runners. Megan McGee led the team, placing third overall in 22:29.

Gibson Hylton was seventh in 23:22, Brooke Cheatham was eighth in 23:28, Alissa Adickes was 10th in 23:39, Ruby Williams was 11th in 23:44 and Chasity Lass was 13th in 24:08. Lindsey Rudisill was 60th and Kaylyn Berg was 67th.

In the middle school girls 3K race, Gloucester’s Laura Tobin was eighth in 11:25 and Shauna Bailey was 48th.
