Gloucester rowers place in Occoquan Chase Regatta

The Gloucester High School fall rowing team joined over 60 other crews for the Occoquan Chase Regatta on Oct. 16. Gloucester rowers entered five events and came away with three top-10 finishes.

Chris Smith finished second out of five boats in the novice single with a time of 22:42.55 and Brianna Priode and Hannah Cagle improved their time to finish sixth out of eight boats in the junior double. Novices Logan Hutson, Tristan Lee, Patrick Shea and Nick Booth, along with coxswain Chase Holland, tried the varsity-level junior four and finished 21st out of 25 boats.
In the women’s junior four, Gloucester’s ‘A’ boat of Elizabeth Keane, Hannah Beverage, Gabrielle Lauer, Kendall Worland and coxswain Matthew Hendrix posted an improved time of 19.18:95 and finished third out of 26. Novices Meagan Martin, Kassidy Brown, Kara Smith, Jenna Proulx and coxswain Kaitlyn Thompson earned varsity experience in the ‘B’ race.
