Gloucester Rotary seeks input on community service project

The Gloucester Rotary Club has spent or committed approximately $10,000 in philanthropic endeavors in the club year ending June 30, benefitting local and Rotary International-related programs.

Included in those figures is $1,000 that has been set aside for a yet-to-be-determined local community service project for which public input is being invited, a release said.

Recommendations for the community service project should be submitted by May 30 to Henry Moncure at HWM74@msn.com or by mail to P.O. Box 811, Gloucester, Va. 23061. Some major past community service projects have included spearheading a clinic series providing over 20,000 doses of polio vaccine to local residents, sponsorship of annual rabies clinics, building a shelter at Beaverdam Park, conceiving and equipping a cultural center in the restored former Botetourt Hotel, and sponsoring the Chesapeake Bay Student Conference that operated for more than 20 years, attracting students from many areas of Virginia.
