Gloucester Rotary seeks input on community service project

The Gloucester Rotary Club has spent or committed approximately $10,000 in philanthropic endeavors in the club year ending June 30, benefitting local and Rotary International-related programs.

Included in those figures is $1,000 that has been set aside for a yet-to-be-determined local community service project for which public input is being invited, a release said.

Recommendations for the community service project should be submitted by May 30 to Henry Moncure at or by mail to P.O. Box 811, Gloucester, Va. 23061. Some major past community service projects have included spearheading a clinic series providing over 20,000 doses of polio vaccine to local residents, sponsorship of annual rabies clinics, building a shelter at Beaverdam Park, conceiving and equipping a cultural center in the restored former Botetourt Hotel, and sponsoring the Chesapeake Bay Student Conference that operated for more than 20 years, attracting students from many areas of Virginia.
