Gloucester robotics teacher receives national award

Page Middle School robotics teacher Rusty West was one of seven teachers from across the United States to received top honors last week during the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) National Summit in Indianapolis, Ind. 

A Florida teacher was named the PLTW Teacher of the Year and six other teachers, including West, received PLTW National Teacher of Excellence Awards. 

The teachers were recognized for their outstanding commitment to educating students in the STEM disciplines and preparing them with the skills to be successful in college and their careers. In a release announcing the awards, PLTW said West is a PLTW Gateway Master Teacher known for his passion for project-based learning and teaching robotics as a way to influence students’ learning. West teaches robotics for both Page and Gloucester High School students.
