Gloucester resident arrested on drug charge

Investigators with the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office allegedly found $1,600 worth of illegal drugs at a Doe Drive apartment after going there last Thursday evening to execute an arrest warrant and a search warrant.

The GSO narcotics investigators, assisted by the GSO Special Operations Unit, arrested 25-year-old Anthony Lawrence Distefano at the apartment, according to GSO Capt. John Schick Jr. He was charged with one count of distributing ecstasy and was later released on a $3,500 secured bond.

Schick said Distefano was armed with a loaded semi-automatic handgun at the time of his arrest. During the search of Distefano’s apartment, Schick said investigators found seven grams of ecstasy with a street value of $700, a gram of heroin valued at $100 and one and a half ounces of marijuana valued at $800. They also found packaging material and paraphernalia.
