Gloucester releases 2017 disaster prep guide

Gloucester County recently mailed its 2017 Disaster Preparedness Guide to all residents and business owners in the county as the potential for severe summertime weather increases. The guide is also available online at www.gloucesterva.info.

The guide includes information on how families and businesses can prepare for a disaster or emergency situation and how to stay informed before, during and after a disaster. Information is also included on how to recover following a disaster and how to be more involved in assisting during and after such a situation.

“You may not be able to prevent emergencies or disasters, but there are many things you can do to be as prepared as possible,” said county spokesperson Christi Lewis. “Emergency situations become disasters when they overwhelm the resources available to respond. It is essential that every individual, family and business be prepared, stay informed, have a plan; recover safely and get involved.” She said disasters ...
