Gloucester Relay to be held Saturday

The Gloucester Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society will be held from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Abingdon Ruritan Club, Bena.

Prior to the official opening of the Relay, the Gloucester High School FFA will host a 5K Color Run and Kid Fun Run. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the race start is at 9. The registration fee for the race is $25 and the fee for the Kid Run is $10. The fees include a white dye-able T-shirt and color packets will be sold at the event.

Vendor booths open at 1 p.m. and the Survivor Luncheon is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. A ceremony at 3 o’clock officially opens the Relay. For entertainment, the Lee Loudermilk Band plays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Elvis impersonator John Monforto takes the stage from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Relay luminaria ceremony will be held at 9 p.m. and the closing ceremony ends the day at 10.
