Gloucester reassessment delayed for one year

Gloucester’s next reassessment of real property will be delayed one year.

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors voted 4-2 Tuesday night during its regular meeting in the colonial courthouse to make an ordinance change to delay the reassessment completion date, from Jan. 1, 2012 to Jan. 1, 2013.

Gloucester’s code currently calls for a reassessment every two years. Therefore, an ordinance change is necessary to delay the reassessment.

The motion to extend the next reassessment was one of several suggestions from the county’s reassessment committee. At-large supervisor Michelle Ressler who, along with Ware district supervisor Gregory Woodard, voted against extending the deadline, said she was a part of the reassessment committee at the beginning. Supervisor Buddy Rilee did not attend the meeting.
