Pickleball has generated a lot of interest in recent years, and now Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism is offering a class to help people learn the basics of this popular sport.

Beginner Instructional Pickleball will be held on Wednesdays, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., from May 19 to June 9 at the Gloucester High School tennis courts. Billy Moore will instruct the class. The fee is $35 and the deadline to register is May 12.

REPTILE SHOW: Gloucester PRT is sponsoring reptile educational shows this Saturday at Beaverdam Park. There will be three sessions (11 a.m.-noon, 12:15-1:15 p.m. and 1:30-2:30 p.m.). Each session will be the same; representatives of the Virginia Herpetological Society will share information on several different reptiles which will be on-site for participants to see. The registration fee is $5 per person and the deadline to register is Friday.

ZUMBA: Zumba classes are being held from 6:45-7:45 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at Botetourt Elementary. The next session begins the week of April 28 and runs through May 24. The fee is $45 and the deadline to register is Friday.
YOGA: Gloucester PRT is offering several new yoga classes in May. On Mondays from 5:30-6:45 p.m. is Yin Yoga. Yin Yoga is yoga for your joints. Just Breathe Yoga is being offered from 9-10:15 a.m. This is a slower-paced class with different levels of each pose to help increase flexibility, balance and strength. Free Flow Yoga from 5:30-6:45 p.m. offers a creative, soulful, adventurous, and fun flow that weaves together breath and movement. In My Mat Yoga (9-10 a.m. Thursdays), you decide on the depth of the poses. Vinyasa Chakra Flow Yoga on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:45 p.m. will highlight the seven main energy centers through sound, color and mantras. Classes are $9 each day or you can sign up for the month for $8 per class. Deadline is four days before each class begins.

All PRT classes require the wearing of masks, once in your distanced workout space, you may remove your mask.
