Gloucester planners to meet tonight

The Gloucester Planning Commission will hold a public hearing about preliminary plat requirements at 7:30 tonight in the colonial courthouse.

“There are changes required to the county’s subdivision ordinance based on recent actions of the General Assembly related to preliminary plats,” Anne Ducey-Ortiz, director of planning and zoning, said in an Aug. 26 memorandum.

“Gloucester will no longer be authorized to require preliminary plats on subdivisions with 50 lots or fewer,” Ducey-Ortiz said, “though applicants will be permitted to do so if they choose.”

A public notice said that the changes proposed to the fee section of the subdivision ordinance keep the amount paid for subdivision review neutral, whether the applicant chooses to submit a preliminary plat or not.
Some changes in text have been proposed to update the language to reflect the review process and modern agency titles, the notice said.
