Gloucester pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle

A Gloucester man died last week after he was struck by a vehicle while walking along Route 33 in the county near the King and Queen County line.

State police spokesman Michelle Anaya said a trooper was dispatched at 3:19 p.m. last Thursday to the accident that occurred on eastbound Route 33 and County Line Road.

Anaya said Tonghun Choe, 76, of County Line Road, was walking eastbound on the right shoulder and walked out into the lane of oncoming traffic where he was struck by a 2005 Jeep Liberty that was eastbound on Route 33 in the turn lane.

Choe suffered major injuries, Anaya said, and was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he later died. The driver of the Jeep was not charged in the accident.

Choe was the first Gloucester traffic fatality of 2016. ...
