Gloucester County’s financial services department recently received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its current year’s budget. This is the third consecutive year the department has received the award.

The award represents a significant achievement for the county; reflecting the commitment of the governing body and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting, a GFOA release stated.

In order to receive the budget award, the county had to satisfy nationally-recognized guidelines for effective presentation, including having a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.

Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories to receive the award, the release stated.
