Gloucester named a Virginia Main Street Community

Gloucester Court House is now a Virginia Main Street Community.

The designation was bestowed upon Gloucester—as well as the town of Wytheville and the cities of Danville and Lexington—following an announcement on Monday by Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s office.

As a Main Street Community, Gloucester’s Main Street will receive over $120,000 in services to help improve business here. The designation will also give the Gloucester Main Street Association and Main Street Preservation Trust access to more grants for future improvements throughout the corridor.

The four communities were selected based on their Main Street organizations’ preparedness to identify, plan and implement programs and services for their given downtown districts, the release from the Governor’s office stated.
