Gloucester mother and daughter to lead Alzheimer’s walk

Gloucester resident Dana Kohlhorst and her daughter Kasey are the honorary chairpersons for this year’s Middle Peninsula/Northern Neck Walk to End Alzheimer’s, sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association. It will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Bethpage Camp Resort, 679 Brown’s Lane, Urbanna. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the program at 9:30 and the walk at 10.

The mother/daughter team will be walking to raise funds for Alzheimer’s research in memory of Dana’s husband and Kasey’s father, Daryl Kohlhorst. Kasey’s sister, Erin, won’t be able to be at the walk because she now lives in Fort Worth, Texas.

Daryl was the sort of man who liked to clown around and make others laugh, said Dana. Laid-back, kind, and a real softy when it came to his daughters, Daryl was a Mr. Fixit who loved to listen to music and act goofy while he worked on anything and everything in his garage.
