The Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society is holding this year’s annual gala and auction, “The Phantom of the Shelter,” virtually. Though the gala date is scheduled for Jan. 29, the sealed bid auction is ongoing until the gala date.

“There’s something for everyone at a variety of price points,” Humane Society CEO April Martinez said about the auction.

On the GMHS website, bidders can submit one sealed bid per item and are not permitted to adjust their bids based on competing bids. However, if the bidder has second thoughts about their bid and believes that it will not be enough to win, GMHS will accept a new and higher bid if it is received before the auction closes on Jan. 29 at 4 p.m.

Bid by phone by calling 804-693-5520 ext. 104 or emailing events@gmhumanesociety.org. All bidders must register a credit card by calling the number. Winners will be notified by phone or email. GMHS also has a “Buy It Now” option for those who wish to make getting the item a certainty.
