Gloucester-Mathews Garden Club collects, donates 200+ coats

Members of the Garden Club of Gloucester and Mathews collected over 200 garments of new and gently-used coats, jackets, hats, gloves and scarves for men, women and children for Gloucester and Mathews counties.
The club’s efforts were initiated and led by board member and past president Lynn Hornsby, with the intention of specifically donating the items to our local communities. “The need has been particularly great this year, and our club started collecting coats much earlier this year. We are thankful that our club can contribute to the community in this way; and plan to continue our coat drive in future years,” said Hornsby.
“Helping the community at this time of the year is particularly gratifyin,” said president Lynne Manning, “and it was truly a group effort.”
On Nov. 19, Hornsby dropped off the items to Gloucester County Department of Social Services and to Hands Across Mathews in Mathews.
