Gloucester looks to ‘Give Cancer the Boot’ Saturday

The Gloucester Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society will be held from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Lighthouse Worship Center, Ordinary. “We are so excited to ‘Give Cancer the Boot’ this year,” said event lead chairman Melissa Edwards, echoing the Relay’s 2016 theme.

“We have added a bubble lap for our kids that are currently undergoing treatment, a survivor, or in remembrance of a young life lost too soon. The American Cancer Society considers all who have been diagnosed with cancer a survivor. Come out and join us in the fight,” said Edwards.

Edwards said there are some slight changes in this year’s Gloucester Relay lineup. “We have always in the past had our survivor dinner prior to our event kicking off. This year we will have the dinner immediately following the survivor lap. We have moved the caregiver lap to later in the event to allow the caregivers time to eat with the survivors.
