Gloucester House marks 25th year in business

Gloucester House, an assisted living facility at Gloucester Court House, held a festive open house Saturday to celebrate its 25th year in operation.

The event, which drew a number of people from the public as well as Gloucester House staff and their families, included live music, toys and prizes, raffles, face-painting, popcorn, cotton candy and drinks. Garrett Jones, the facility’s executive director, said he was pleased with the large turnout.

Gloucester House can serve a maximum of 96 residents at a time, which includes an assisted living component and a Memory Care unit for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementia problems.

To make sure the residents are well cared for, Jones said Gloucester House has more than 90 full- and part-time employees. Most residents are over age 60, although some younger residents are occasionally served, Jones said.

In addition, Gloucester House has classes for Personal Care Assistants and Registered Medical Aides.
