Gloucester hires new technology director, Petsworth principal

The Gloucester County School Board made several personnel appointments during its Aug. 8 retreat and its Aug. 13 regular monthly meeting. 

During the Aug. 8 meeting, Dean Mecca of Wyoming was appointed as the school division’s director of technology. He will replace James Brogan, who is retiring Aug. 31 after 23 years with Gloucester County Public Schools. 

The board also appointed Gwendolyn Wallace of Yorktown as principal of Petsworth Elementary School. She replaces Cathy Balderson, who is now the assistant principal at Page Middle School. 

Appointed to teaching positions for the 2019-2020 school year were: Elley Trubic of Cape Charles, Page; Heather Jurgensen of Gloucester, Gloucester High School and Lana Mecca of Wyoming, GHS. Also, John Schick Jr. of Hayes was appointed as a part-time teacher, GHS.
