Gloucester earns World Series berth

It’s on to the World Series for the Gloucester All-Stars.

 

Gloucester’s 12-year-old Major boys earned a berth in the 2012 12/60 Cal Ripken World Series in Winchester, Mass. after winning the championship game of the Southeast Regional tournament in Live Oak, Fla. on Monday afternoon.

 

It was an amazing tournament for the Gloucester boys, who lost in the opening round to the same team they came back to beat twice in a row for the championship.

 

Gloucester began tournament play last Thursday, falling 12-3 to Southern Pitt, a team from Eastern North Carolina.

 

On Friday, Gloucester started its six-game winning streak, defeating a team from Tennessee, 6-4. Brett Lindsay tossed a complete game with six strikeouts for the victory. Grayson Womble led the offense with three hits and two RBIs, Carter Miller had a single and a two-run home run which proved to be the game-winning hit.
