Gloucester doctors receive Holland Award from MSV

Dr. Hugh M. Bryan III and his wife, Dr. Barbara Allison-Bryan, received the Clarence A. Holland Award from the Medical Society of Virginia during its annual meeting in Norfolk on Oct. 20-22.

The award is presented each year to Virginia physicians for outstanding contributions promoting the art and science of medicine and the advancement of public health through political service, a release stated.

Both physicians practice in Gloucester with Riverside Health System.

Bryan is an orthopedic surgeon with more than two decades of experience. A release said he was the first surgeon in Virginia to use MRI-designed patient specific guides for knee replacement. He received the Virginia Orthopedic Society Career Award in 2013, it said.
