Gloucester disaster guide receives national award

A disaster preparedness guide, first published last year by Gloucester County’s Community Education department, has received national recognition.

The 2015 “Are You Prepared?” disaster preparedness guide, was awarded the highest recognition in the 2016 APEX Awards for Publication Excellence Competition, sponsored by Communications Concepts. 

According to county spokesperson Christi Lewis, the APEX award is given for best practices in print, web and e-publishing. She said awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications effectiveness and excellence. 

The preparedness guide was created by Amanda Wallace, communications coordinator for Gloucester’s Community Education department, to help residents be prepared in the event of a disaster.
