Gloucester County launches new website

Gloucester County launched a brand new website Monday afternoon that is accessible to all residents and uses various web browsers with a more modern design.

"This is the first major redesign in over a decade," said Brian Burchett, applications and web developer analyst for Gloucester.

Burchett, along with about 30 staff members representing each county department, have worked for about two years on the redesign to www.gloucesterva.info. Much of the work has been in training on how to use the site’s new software, and it has all been done in-house.

Improvements on the site focus on allowing its content to be accessible to as many users as possible, as well as complying with accessibility guidelines and standards.

George Bains, director of the county’s Information Technology department said convenient and user-friendly services include search tools, printing icons, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) subscription and Browsealoud for speech-enabled web pages....
