Gloucester County joins social media

Recognizing the expanding role social media plays in providing timely communications, Gloucester County now has an active Facebook page and Twitter handle to connect and communicate public announcements, important meetings, events and topics of interest.

The Facebook and Twitter social media initiative is a cooperative effort of the departments of Information Technology and Community Education, with oversight by the Social Media Committee.   

Amanda Wallace, communications coordinator for the county’s Community Education department, serves as the moderator and facilitates daily posts. A few of the current postings include an announcement of the weekly Town Crier e-news blast, a link to the government and school television channels for broadcasts and streaming, and referrals to the Weatherization Assistance Program.
