Gloucester Comix Con to be held Aug. 12

Despite having to change its name to avoid legal issues, a comic and action hero program at the Gloucester Library is alive and well.

So well, in fact, that coordinator Sissi Mise said organizers expect more than 3,000 people might attend the event to be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug, 12, at the main library at Main Street Center. Last year’s event drew more than 2,000 people, said Mise, the library’s middle and high school coordinator.

Mise said that the prior name Comic Con, used here for last year’s hero event, was trademarked for an event in San Diego, so the Gloucester event is now the Comix Con. No matter what name it is called, it will still be a showcase for comic and action heroes, with the Gloucester Library working in conjunction with Jersey’s Cards and Comics at White Marsh Shopping Center (owner John Millington) and Conquest Comics, a publishing company.
