Gloucester club members win ribbons at regional daffodil show

Gloucester Daffodil Club members won a variety of prizes at the American Daffodil Society Middle Atlantic Regional Show, sponsored by the Virginia Daffodil Society and held on March 25 and 26 at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden Center, Richmond.

Special award winners were: Anne Earman—ADS Miniature White Ribbon for Best 3 Stems of Miniatures in Show; Nancy Fuchs—ADS White Ribbon and VDS Patty Bragdon Founders Trophy for Best 3 Stems of Standards in Show, as well as ADS Gold Ribbon and Harry F. Thomson Award for Best Standard Daffodil in Show; Dianne Spence—ADS Purple Ribbon for the Best Collection of 5 Stems; Peggy Bowditch—ADS Red-White-Blue Ribbon for Best Collection of 5 Stems American Origin; Carla Stanley—ADS Pink Ribbon Best Classic Single Stem in Show; and GDS youth member Luke Blaylock—ADS Youth Exhibitor Best Set of 3 Stems.

A tie—A first!

There was a three-way tie for the first time in the 28-year history of the show for a Silver Ribbon for Most Blue Ribbons in Horticulture, and all three of the winners were GDC members—Susan Auman, Anne Earman, and Carla and William Stanley.

Other members of the Gloucester Daffodil Club who attended the show were Kathy Gierlak, Debbie Rollins, Mary Ross, Tammie Spivey, and Bill Thomas.
