Gloucester CC falls to Menchville in Newport News tri-meet

Gloucester High School harriers lost to the 2015 Conference 10 champions from Menchville in a tri-meet on Oct. 12 at Riverview Farm Park in Newport News.

GHS sophomore Joshua Shackelford remained undefeated with another first-place finish and a time of 16:31. Andrew Wible was sixth in 18:28, Christopher Potter was 10th in 18:47, Colton Spence was 12th in 19:10 and Justin Burgess was 16th in 20:04 as the Dukes fell, 21-40, to the Monarchs. 

Alyssa Lass led the Gloucester girls, finishing fifth in 21:48. Following her were Ali Adickes at sixth in 21:49, Megan McGee at seventh in 21:49.7, Ruby Williams at 10th in 22:12 and Makala White at 11th in 22:18 in the 25-39 loss to Menchville.  

The Dukes competed in the Milestat XC Invitational Saturday in Mechanicsville where Shackelford finished 22nd in a field of 294 with a time of 15:51, the best finish of the sophomores in the varsity A race.
