Gloucester carjacking suspects caught in Tennessee

The couple suspected in a Gloucester carjacking that occurred on Nov. 11 was taken into custody in Tennessee on Saturday, according to Lt. Scott Little of the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office.

Little said investigators obtained information about one of the suspects and tracked the couple’s movement to Tennessee. He said information was provided to law enforcement agencies in Tennessee who located the stolen vehicle and arrested the couple.

Little identified the suspects as Brandon Shawn Smith, 27, of Gloucester and Stephanie Maria Rodriguez, 37, of Thoreau, New Mexico. He said both were charged in Tennessee with possession of stolen property.

The Gloucester carjacking occurred at about 6 p.m. on Nov. 11 when a county resident was at the Langley Federal Credit Union ATM in the Gloucester Point Shopping Center.
