Riverside Walter Reed Hospital hosted an open house last week to celebrate the completion of its newly expanded Riverside Middle Peninsula Cancer Center in Gloucester.
The project, which began in January 2024, has significantly upgraded the facility’s capabilities, increasing oncology infusion capacity from 12 to 16 semi-private bays and adding a private treatment room to better meet the growing demand for care. Each bay includes an infusion chair and guest chair so loved ones can more easily accompany patients during their appointments.
Additional upgrades include two new restrooms and two nourishment stations for patients and guests. New paint and murals of beach scenes can also be found throughout the facility.
The cancer center stayed in operation throughout construction so patients could continue to receive care.
